Ichiban Yakitori | 1/88 Creek Street, BRISBANE CBD QLD 4000

Ichiban Yakitori is a tiny Japanese eatery nestled in CBD's Gresham Lane. Unlike Hanaichi which only does a few rice dishes and noodle soups, Ichiban Yakitori also offers, as the name itself suggests, yakitori as well as Momofuku inspired steamed open buns.

The other travel bunnie and I went there for a quick lunch a few days ago when mum was looking after Minibun George. Despite the long queue, we got our lunch within a very reasonable timeframe. The pan fried salmon in teriyaki sauce with rice and Asian slaw ($9) came with three small salmon fillets that were perhaps a touch overdone but the flesh was tasty regardless, and I really liked the kewpie mayo mixed with the Asian slaw. The highlight of the lunch had to be the Ichi Buns ($10 for 2) ordered by the other travel bunnie. The mouthwatering buns arrived while still steaming hot. Both the pork belly and the beef with mushrooms buns were tasty, easy to scoff and the perfect lunch time filler size.

All in all this looks place is another positive addition to funky Gresham Lane that will mean eating here will involve leaving your workplace (or home) a little earlier for lunch.

Total Bunnie Dollars Spent: $19.00
