Tuscan Terrace | 850 Mount Cotton Road, MOUNT COTTON QLD 4165

Recently dad came over for a visit from China to meet his first grandchild. Usually the other travel bunnie would plan a weekend getaway for the four of us, but given this time round we have a new member of the family who's only teeny tiny (at the moment), we decided that it was best to have a day trip somewhere.

So on the way to the Gold Coast one weekend, we made a detour to Sirromet Winery and had lunch at Tuscan Terrace overlooking the vineyards. The idea of Tuscan Terrace came after the owner took a trip to Tuscany years ago and although it doesn't mimic the Italian affair to its perfection, the ambience is nonetheless inviting and relaxing.

Offering a selection of flavoursome dishes ranging from salads to wood fired pizzas and homemade pastas, the menu is surprisingly affordable for the quality of the food. For lunch, I had the Tuscan salad with chargrilled duck sausage ($22.90), which was served with fresh mozzarella, wood fired roasted pumpkin, cherry tomatoes, pine nuts with chilli, honey and red wine drizzle. I loved that salad. The duck sausage was so flavoursome and the salad tasted fresh with just the right amount of dressing which had a sweet note to it. As for the other travel bunnie, he ordered the Sirromet signature slow braised lamb shank ($25.90), which he managed to smash in less than ten minutes. So I'd say that it was pretty tasty. The chargrilled pear salad ($24.90) served with chargrilled chicken breast, sun dried tomatoes, fresh asparagus with basil and evo dressing as well as the executive chef, Andrew Mirosch's own line caught fish of the day ($27.90) didn't disappoint my parents.

Generous portions with a rustic touch and a bottle of wine on the side, I have to say that lunch at Tuscan Terrace left a good impression for all of us (not to mention giving us all the prefect excuse to soak up some winter sun...)

Total Bunnie Dollars Spent: $127.60
